618 NE Bluestem, 316.321.7180 Located just northeast of El Dorado, the El Dorado Lake And State Park is Kansas' largest state park, offering 8,000 Acres of Liquid Fun! There are four separate park areas that cover 4,000 acres along the shore of El Dorado Reservoir. Amenities include:
The lake is the site of a number of annual fishing tournaments and other events such as Outdoor Kansas for Kids Day, Frontier Western Celebration Trail Ride and the Prairie Port Festival Concert. The Walnut Valley Sailing Club offers sailing lessons and holds several regattas during the year. El Dorado Lake & State Park is also one of the most handicapped- accessible parks in the state. Approximately 4,000 acres of public hunting lands are available on the north end of El Dorado Lake. Approximately 2,000 acres within the park itself are also available for hunting. Starting at East Park, continuing east and north under Central Street and over the Walnut River to North Main Park; north along Main, east on 12th Street, around Prairie Trails Country Club, and stretching to El Dorado Lake & State Park, the concrete path takes pedestrians or bikers on a lovely excursion from the city out to the wooded trail area below El Dorado Lake dam. Safe and enjoyable entertainment and excersize for the whole family. 6.3 miles from one end to the other. Parking available at both ends of the trail and off 12th Street.
